CaixaResearch Health Call 2021

We have just been granted with a CaixaResearch Health Grant 2021 from the prestigious La Caixa Foundation.

Lesions of the central nervous system that can affect mobility or vision are one of the leading causes of disability among young adults and the elderly due to accidents and the ageing process.

Regenerative medicine promises new therapies to treat these lesions by means of the growth and guidance of neuron extensions, or axons, thereby restoring damaged neuronal connectivity.

The project investigates this type of treatments to repair the damaged cells of the optical nerve and spinal cord following a lesion, with the intention of reversing the paralysis or loss of sight.

The proposal, called "Regenerative medicine advances towards the recovery of mobility and vision" will be funded with 495,500€ during 3 years.
